Fabio Rapisarda
Summary
Born in Palermo on 1 April 1966, he graduated in 1990 with a score 110 out of 110 and an honorable mention with the thesis “Hypothesis for Psychotherapeutical Intervention in the course of chronic renal insufficiency”.
He then specialized in Psychiatry in 1994 with the thesis "The Assessment of Consent in Donating Kidneys” after attending from 1991 to 1994 the “Guardia II” University Psychiatric Hospital of the Polyclinic of Milan. During the same period he carried out research with Prof. Freni and Dr. Fava on the Luborski psychotherapy model, followed music therapy groups and participated in research teams with Dr. G. Lai on psychotherapy for psychodynamic purposes. He also carried out Jungian individual therapy and he worked as a psychotherapist at the “Affori” Psychiatric Clinic of the University of Milan under the supervision of various analysts among whom Dr. Bellui and Dr. Rossi.
From 1988 to 1990 and from 1994 to 1996 he carried out research at the University of Palermo together on the psychodynamic implications and psychological aspects of transplant receivers (both from living and dead donors) and hemodialysis patients affected by chromic uremia and participated in Balint groups on the psychological implications in patients with organic diseases. He has held several lectures on these topics (from 1991 to 1995). From 1 August 2001 to 27 May 2002 he worked as Psychiatrist at the Zone 16 CPS of the San Paolo Hospital of Milan.
In October 2001 he started his psycho-analytic training at the SIPRe of Milan and his training in cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy at the Association of Cognitive Studies in Milan. Researcher at the University of Palermo starting from November 2002.
From January to April and from May to September 2003 he carried out research on the psychological and pyschiatric aspects of kidney transplants and of patients with chronic uremia at the Croff ard of Milan.
From 2005 and 2008 respectively he is member of SITCC (Società italiana terapia cognitivo e comportamentale), IFPS (International Federation of psychoanalytic societies) and OPIFER (Organizzazione psicoanalisti italiani federazione e registro).
He taught at the University of Palermo the following subjects: psychopathology, psychiatry, clinical psychology, general psychology.
Actually he teach relational dynamic psychology and he is publishing papers on alexithymia in chronic pathologies, neuroscience and psychoanalysis. He works at the psychology service of the University of Palermo too.
