Overview
Ensuring Originality and Ethical Integrity in Interdisciplinary Publishing
The Journal of Interdisciplinary Social, Digital, Creative & Engineering Studies (JISDCES) is dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity. We strictly prohibit plagiarism in any form, including direct copying, paraphrasing without attribution, and self-plagiarism (reusing one’s previously published work without proper citation). All manuscripts submitted to JISDCES undergo rigorous plagiarism screening to ensure originality and ethical compliance.
Plagiarism Detection with CrossCheck
JISDCES is an active participant in the CrossCheck initiative powered by iThenticate, which allows us to compare submitted manuscripts against a vast database of academic content. Every submission is checked for plagiarism within 24 hours of receipt, ensuring early detection and action before peer review.
Understanding Plagiarism
Plagiarism includes but is not limited to:
- Copying others’ work or ideas without attribution
- Reusing substantial parts of your previously published work (self-plagiarism)
- Using content from websites, publications, tables, figures, or diagrams without permission or proper citation
- Failing to paraphrase properly, even if sources are listed
All authors must ensure their work is entirely original and give appropriate credit to all sources.
Plagiarism Evaluation & Thresholds
JISDCES handles plagiarism cases based on similarity percentage:
Plagiarism Level | Action Taken |
---|---|
Less than 5% | Manuscript proceeds to review with a note to revise minor overlaps. |
5% – 30% | Returned to the author for rewriting and proper citation. No reference ID is assigned. |
Above 30% | Manuscript is rejected outright. Authors are advised to significantly revise and resubmit as a new submission. |
We uphold strict standards to promote high-quality scholarly contributions and discourage academic misconduct.
Post-Publication Plagiarism Handling
- JISDCES will initiate an investigation in collaboration with the author(s), institutions, and, if applicable, funding bodies.
- A correction, retraction, or editorial note will be issued depending on the severity.
- Affected articles may be flagged in the published PDF with explanations for future reference.
Author Responsibilities
- Submissions must be original and unpublished, not under consideration by other journals.
- Authors must acknowledge all reused content, including figures, tables, and significant ideas.
- Proper referencing is mandatory for all external sources.
- Any reuse of previous work must include clear citations and substantial new contributions.
Guidance on Reusing Content
- If reusing content (e.g., graphs, visuals), obtain necessary permissions and cite the original source.
- Avoid direct copy-paste; instead, paraphrase effectively using your own language.
- All reused content must be properly credited, regardless of whether it comes from others’ work or your own previous publications.
Self-Plagiarism
JISDCES defines self-plagiarism as the reuse of significant parts of an author’s previous work without citation. Acceptable forms of reuse (e.g., expanded conference papers) must be properly referenced and substantially different from earlier versions.
